Spring Semester 2024

The spring semester was packed full of ministry and fellowship at Baptist Campus Ministries at Jacksonville State University! Our weekly Tuesday night worships were powerful, our Thursday night activities were a hit, and overall, the BCM community grew closer together! Although there were several struggles due to a time of transition and change of campus ministers, the leadership team worked diligently to keep the BCM moving forward. Overall, Spring 2024 was a great semester! God is faithful!!!

Collegiate Day of Prayer

On February 29th, 2024, Baptist Campus Ministries, along with Reformed University Fellowship (RUF), Engage, Banner Church, and Sound from Heaven, gathered together for Collegiate Day of Prayer. All ministries were truly impacted by the event, both through a prayer meeting and a prayer walk around campus. This opportunity was monumental, uniting several of JSU'S collegiate ministries, something that had not been done in over thirty years. After praying for the campus, students, and faculty, everyone enjoyed a great time of fellowship at the BCM where they ate pizza and cupcakes! We know that God is still working at the campus of JSU as well as through students and faculty!

Spring SPOTS Trip

During spring break, a group of eleven students went to Selma, AL to serve a community who had suffered major losses due to storm damage in the spring of 2023. The BCM team built a ramp for a person in need, finished hardwood floors in a house that was being renovated for storm relief, laid tile down in the same house, and placed down sod at many houses. Although it was a tiring week, everyone was grateful for the opportunity to give back to people in need. Even so, after brutal and exhausting days of working, the volunteers came back and worshiped Christ through reading and studying 1 John together. It was a fruitful week!

New Campus Minister

We are excited to announce that Baptist Campus Ministries will have a new campus minister in the fall- Shannon Hughes! She has previously served at South Alabama University and Auburn University as campus minister. She has a heart for evangelism as well as discipling and encouraging college-age students. BCM is so excited to see the impact she will have on the campus! Please pray for her as she takes these next steps to be obedient to God, and that she will have a smooth transition moving from Auburn to Jacksonville!
